BOURTREE

A fortified Scottish elderberry wine – Vinum Afiléon

From the ancient lands of the Barony of Cononsyth emerges Bourtree—born of elderberry, shaped by time, and defined by restraint. Produced in strictly limited quantity, it stands not as a variation of wine, but as its own expression of Scottish heritage.

Named for the bourtree—the elder tree of Scots tradition.

A Wine of Legacy

From the elder tree—known in old Scots as the bourtree—berries were gathered for their richness and resilience. Today, that heritage continues in Bourtree—a fortified Scottish elderberry wine by Vinum Afiléon, drawn from Scotland’s past and carried into present form.

Vinum Afiléon is not merely a name, but the house behind Bourtree. Rooted in the ancient lands of the Barony of Cononsyth in Angus, it reflects a continuity of place, craft, and quiet intention.

Heritage Refined

Bourtree begins with Scottish elderberries, carefully fermented to preserve their depth and structure. Honeyberry from Cononsyth is introduced to soften and round the fruit, before fortification with selected rum lends warmth, stability, and length.

The result is Bourtree — a fortified Scottish elderberry wine by Vinum Afiléon: structured, enduring, and unmistakably Scottish in character.

A Baron’s Legacy

As custodian of the Barony of Cononsyth, I honour both land and lineage through this creation. Bourtree—a fortified Scottish elderberry wine by Vinum Afiléon—stands as continuation: shaped by the past, defined in the present, and offered with restraint.
